Lekki Restaurant And Bar

If you're looking for authentic Nigerian flavors in the heart of London, Lekki Restaurant And Bar on Kingsland Road is a name that regularly pops up in foodie conversations - and for good reason. This cozy yet vibrant spot has carved a niche for itself by offering soulful West African cuisine that feels like home cooking, just with a stylish twist. Whether you're swinging by for a casual lunch, a late-night bite, or drinks with friends, this place delivers bold tastes, generous portions, and a buzzing atmosphere that’s hard to forget.

One of the first things you notice walking into Lekki Restaurant And Bar is the welcoming energy. The dining space is warm and inviting, complete with a fireplace that adds a cozy touch during the colder months. Sports fans often gather here too - thanks to its reputation as a good hangout spot for catching live games while sipping on a cold Guinness or palm wine. It’s casual, friendly, and full of character.

Now, let’s talk food. The menu is a celebration of Nigerian staples, prepared with flair and served with generosity. If you're unfamiliar with the cuisine, no worries - the staff is more than happy to guide you through the dishes. One standout is the Efo Riro and EBA, a classic Yoruba combo of spinach stew and cassava dough that’s as comforting as it is flavorful. The Amala with Ogbono Soup is another favorite - the thick, slightly tangy soup pairs beautifully with the soft, earthy Amala.

Fufu is, of course, a staple here, and when paired with Okra and Fish or Egusi with Pounded Yam, it becomes clear why this dish holds such cultural significance. The Egusi itself is rich and nutty, with a depth of spice that keeps you reaching for the next bite. And if you're into seafood, the Croaker Fish and Fish Pepper Soup are crowd-pleasers. The soup is especially good for those seeking something light yet packed with heat and aromatics.

The drink selection at Lekki Restaurant And Bar deserves a shout-out too. Apart from the usual offerings like beer, cocktails, and spirits, the place serves palm wine, a traditional Nigerian drink that’s hard to find in most London establishments. Combine that with a few plates of Fried Plantains or Yam and Plantain, and you've got a perfect setup for a laid-back evening.

For those craving something heartier, the Asaro Yam Porridge is a must-try. It’s smoky, sweet, spicy, and sticks to your ribs in the best way possible. There’s also Teppanyaki on the menu, which may seem surprising at first, but it adds a playful twist to the overall dining experience, especially for groups who enjoy variety.

This restaurant isn’t just about traditional dishes either. It caters to a wide audience with vegetarian dishes, small plates, healthy options, and even halal food. It’s a smart move, making the place more accessible without compromising authenticity. You can grab a quick bite or settle in for a full feast - the choice is yours.

Accessibility is another thing Lekki gets right. The entrance is wheelchair-accessible, making it more inclusive than many of the older spots around East London. Plus, it offers dine-in, delivery, and takeaway - ideal for every kind of eater, whether you're dining solo or ordering in for a family-style meal.

And here’s the kicker: Lekki Restaurant And Bar isn’t just about food - it’s about the vibe. The mix of Afrobeat tunes in the background, the laughter from regulars at the bar, and the wafting scent of Egusi on the stove make it feel more like a community than just a dining spot. Add in the all-you-can-eat offerings and free water refills, and you’ve got the kind of value that keeps people coming back.

Whether you’re a Londoner missing the tastes of Lagos or a curious foodie ready to dive into rich West African flavors, this place delivers authenticity with flair. It’s not just a restaurant - it’s a slice of Nigeria, served with a side of London attitude.

I ate Asaro(yam porridge). It was fantastic. The portion was great. The reviews helped me find the restaurant when I travelled to London for a visa appointment.

Visiting from out of town, I was impressed with the food here. Not my first time eating Nigerian or West African food, it was all delicious. Minor critique of the asun, was that it wasn’t as juicy as I’ve had at other locations, but the flavor was still really good, and spicy. Paired the asun with asaro and sauce and plantains and my spouse got the egusi with efo, beef/tripe and goat. Goat was tender and easily came off the bones. Lawrence, the chef, does an amazing job. Even more a fan that he lets the food speak for itself. Naturally he likes it, but he lets you be the judge. Definitely worth the trip!

This was a return visit after awhile. On this occasion the food did not hit the spot. The service was great as usual, attentive and responsive. The amala was fluffy and with no lumps, the ogbono soup this time did not have the taste, flavour and freshness as I know they can deliver. Authentic African food choices.
